31st October 2005 The Institution of Occupational Safety & Health achieved Royal Chartered status a couple of years ago. Now, in IOSH’s 60th year, the first Chartered Members and Chartered Fellows have been designated following Privy Council approval in March 2005. Of IOSH’s current 28,000 members, some 6,000 will now enjoy chartered status and AWA is proud to note that this includes a considerable number of the AWA consultant team. Rob Strange, IOSH Chief Executive, has stated ‘The formal Chartered title should not be underestimated – it offers status with a universal currency and establishes professional maturity’. Individual chartered status is a measure of professional competence obtained through a combination of high academic examination and lengthy practical experience, backed up by mandatory CPD subject to independent audit. |
